The annual event, held at SVA’s Shoreham site on 9 July, attracted over 200 buyers, with just under 100 attending in person and the remainder bidding online.
Over 50% of the 200 vehicles sold were electric, with demand particularly strong for high-end EVs, reflecting growing appetite and rising market values in the EV sector. A strong mix of petrol and diesel cars, primarily SUVs, made up the other half of sales, with all vehicles offered in excellent condition (NAMA Grade 1-3).
The high turnout of buyers was thanks to SVA’s proactive and extensive pre-sale marketing, maximising engagement across both physical and online channels.
On the day, SVA’s signature hospitality created a lively and enjoyable auction atmosphere, with buyers treated to Car-nival celebrations, including a BBQ, live music, and dancing. This helped drive competitive bidding and engagement from both independent dealers and larger national buyers.
In addition to the Car-nival festivities, SVA and Zenith had ambitions to raise money for Zenith’s new charity of the year, St Gemma’s Hospice. The event raised a staggering sum of £11,635, thanks to a pledge for every vehicle sold, which was supplemented by additional contributions made during the day.
Alex Wright, Managing Director at SVA: “We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome from this year’s Carnival sale. The brilliant turnout, high energy, and fantastic conversion rates are a testament to the strength of our buyer relationships and the hard work of our team. It’s especially rewarding to see such strong appetite for EVs in the used market, and to raise over £11,000 for St Gemma’s Hospice tops off a hugely successful day.”
Stephen Barlow, Head of Remarketing at Zenith, said: “It was great to see such a strong response to this year’s Car-nival auction. With a 100% conversion rate, the event’s high demand for electric vehicles is a positive sign of the growing retail demand for used EVs as we continue on the road to net zero.
“The event’s success highlights the strength of the partnership between Zenith and SVA, and combined with the huge amount raised for St Gemma’s Hospice, made it one to remember.”
SVA’s next major event will continue its focus on delivering a personal and enjoyable auction experience, supporting both its buyers and local charities.
