SVA adopts owl sculpture to raise funds for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice

Shoreham Vehicle Auctions (SVA), based on the Lancing Industrial Estate has signed up to adopt an owl sculpture as part of the Big Hoot art trail which was launched in Chichester and Arundel on 10 July.

The friendly bird is called ‘Owl you need is love’ and has been decorated by Welsh artist Emma Everett whose work is inspired by the colours and sounds of nature.

It will be one of 30 large sculptures setting up home on the Big Hoot art trail until the 1 September and will represent the Arundel leg of the display.

SVA currently has the 1.5m owl on display at its Lancing-based car auction site during the summer to introduce to its customers and staff to celebrate this great family fun event.

All the large owls will be auctioned at the end of the summer to raise money for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice based in Arundel. SVA has had a relationship with Chestnut Tree House for the past 14 years, raising £300,000 during that period through hosting annual charity car and van auctions.

“The majority of our SVA team live locally and they are very excited that we are sponsoring an owl to take part in this fantastic family event. More importantly when the owls are auctioned off, they will raise money for the brilliant Chestnut Tree House charity that we have supported for many years,” said SVA’s MD and Chestnut Tree House patron Alex Wright.

“The hospice provides a hugely valuable service to children and their families in East and West Sussex and South East and we look forward to being home to an owl during the summer.

“It’s important that charities continue to receive support and funding after a difficult few years during and after Covid,” he added.

Becki Jupp, CEO at Chestnut Tree House said: “We are pleased to welcome SVA on board our summer of owl-themed fun and are very grateful of their continued support of our charity. We hope its staff and customers enjoy the owl event during the summer.”
