Shoreham Vehicle Auctions helps local motorists achieve Best Prices for their Used Cars and Vans

Shoreham Vehicle Auctions’ free valuation service for local motorists, launched earlier this year, has helped dozens of motorists on the south coast sell their used cars and vans, helping them free up much needed cash in these tough economic times.

Shoreham launched the free no obligation service, which will run until the end of April, to help local private used car and van sellers get the best price for their vehicle, saving them valuable time and effort and ensuring they have their money in the bank within five working days.

Feedback from the service has been really positive, with motorists taking advantage of the offer describing the experience as friendly, quick, and trouble free from start to finish. Shoreham’s base of over 2,000 trade and private buyers, one of the most extensive buyer bases in the country, has even helped some motorists sell their vehicles for double what they expected.

Lucy and Terry from Rotherfield took advantage of Shoreham’s free valuation service with their Nissan Figaro. The reserve for the iconic car, which was 21 years old was set at £2,200, but the hammer price achieved £3,200 – an astonishing 45% above the reserve price.

“We were thrilled with the professional service provided by the staff at Shoreham Vehicle Auctions. From start to finish they kept us informed with every step of the sale!” said Lucy.

Mr L of Pulborough, who sold his 05 reg Ford Focus through Shoreham’s auction, said: “I took advantage of Shoreham’s free valuation, and was gobsmacked when I was told my car had sold for double the amount I thought it would. It sold for £1,600 which was actually in line with the original valuation. What more can I say?”

Alan Agate, operations director at Shoreham said: “In a bid to free up much needed cash, we have seen a large number of private sellers taking up this service. We have even been able to help those struggling to sell their vehicles because of a hire purchase agreement. In most cases we can settle with the finance company on their behalf, providing the net proceeds are at least equal to the outstanding balance.

“Our aim is to value the vehicles realistically, so we do not quote inflated prices just to get sellers to bring their vehicles in, which means we quite often exceed the asking price. At Shoreham we value and sell 1000s of used cars and vans every year, so we pride ourselves on the accuracy of our valuation.”

Having celebrated 50 years of trading last year, and with over 7,500 vehicles passing through its halls each year, Shoreham’s team of experts know exactly what influences the price of any car or van.

The team works hard to value each vehicle accurately, taking such things as service history, whether it is in possession of a V5 registration document, and the presence of a spare key into consideration.

Sellers who accept Shoreham’s reserve price will be able to sell their vehicle for free through the Chartwell Road auction, saving the normal entry fee of £60. Should the vehicle sell, the only cost to the seller will be the commission of 7.5% of the selling price (minimum £50). There is no charge if the bid price does not reach the reserve.
